We design and build acreage homes across Wollondilly, Camden, the Southern Highlands, and the Tablelands — homes with the space, orientation, and presence that the land they sit on deserves.
A more considered
way to live.
Acreage living isn’t about the size of the home — it’s about what surrounds it. Room for the children, space for the dogs, a shed, a pool, a veggie garden. Life with enough room that it doesn’t press against itself. For families who’ve lived too close for too long, it’s the most considered move they’ll ever make.
Space that actually functions
Acreage blocks allow floor plans designed around how families live — not around minimum lot coverage. Larger bedrooms, dedicated offices, multiple living zones, generous alfresco.
Indoor-outdoor connection
On a half-acre or more, the outdoor living zones can be as considered as the interior. Pool, alfresco, fire pit, kitchen garden — all resolved at design stage, not retrofitted after moving in.
Multigenerational flexibility
Acreage homes can accommodate parents, adult children, or a caretaker's studio without compromising anyone's privacy. The block gives you the space to design for the long term.
Orientation and aspect
An acreage block is large enough to position the home for solar access, prevailing winds, and views — not just to fit the minimum setbacks. We assess orientation before anything is designed.
The land was the
brief. The home
followed from it.
“The best acreage homes don’t start with a floor plan — they start with the land. At Wombat Hollows, every decision was made around the views, natural light, and how the family would actually live on the property.”
– Mark King · Director
Built on a generous acreage parcel in the Wollondilly region, Wombat Hollows was designed as a home that truly belongs to its surroundings. Inspired by our Acacia acreage design, the layout was adapted to maximise natural light, open-plan living, and uninterrupted rural views while maintaining warmth, practicality, and connection to the outdoors.
Standout Feature
A raised ceiling with highlight windows in the main living area was positioned to draw natural light deep into the home while framing the surrounding acreage landscape from almost every angle.

Acreage builds
require more.
We bring it.
Acreage projects have variables that estate builds don’t — site access, septic systems, water tanks, council requirements for rural zones, sloping sites, and blocks where orientation is a genuine design decision rather than a constraint to work around.
We’ve been building across Wollondilly, Camden, and the Southern Highlands long enough to know what those variables require — and how to resolve them before they become problems mid-build.
Site assessment before design
We visit the block before recommending anything. Slope, orientation, access, soil — all assessed before a line is drawn.
Sloping block specialists
We treat slope as a design opportunity. Split-level layouts, retained gardens, and lower-ground access can become the home's defining features.
Septic, water, power
We coordinate with services engineers on septic systems, rainwater harvesting, and off-grid power requirements — resolved at design stage, not discovered mid-build.
Home & Pool
We can coordinate a King Pool alongside the main build under one project management structure.
Rural council knowledge
Wollondilly, Wingecarribee, Camden, and Penrith councils each have specific acreage requirements. We've worked within all of them.
Transparent upfront pricing
We price acreage builds properly from the start — site costs, access, septic, all considered before the contract is written.

What acreage
clients ask
before they start.
Acreage builds have different considerations to estate builds. These are the questions we hear most often — and we’d rather answer them here than have you wonder.
Is my acreage block suitable for one of these designs?
Most acreage blocks across Wollondilly, Camden, and the Southern Highlands are suitable for our Signature Acreage Collection. The key factors are zoning, access, slope, and any covenant requirements. We review your block details early in the process — before you commit to a design — and give you a clear picture of what works and why.
Do you build on sloping acreage blocks?
Yes. Sloping blocks are a design opportunity rather than a complication. We use the site’s fall to create split-level layouts, retained gardens, and lower-ground spaces that would be impossible on flat blocks. The slope becomes the architecture — not a problem to minimise. We assess the degree of fall and the site’s orientation before recommending a design approach.
How do septic systems and water tanks work?
Acreage builds in rural zones typically require a septic system and rainwater harvesting rather than town water and sewerage. We coordinate with services engineers on both — sizing the system appropriately for the home and positioning it correctly on the block. These costs are assessed at the start of your project and factored into your pricing before the contract is written.
Can I build a pool and shed alongside the home?
Yes. We build King Pools alongside the home under one contract — coordinated construction so you move in with everything complete. For sheds, we can coordinate with a specialist supplier as part of the project. All secondary structures are considered at design stage so site access and positioning are resolved before construction begins.
Can I customise the designs in the Signature Collection?
Completely. Every design in the Signature Acreage Collection is a starting point. Floor plans, room configurations, facade styles, ceiling heights, room sizes — all can be modified around your block and your brief. For clients who want to design from scratch, our Crafted by King service works from your own plans or creates a bespoke design from the site up.
What council approvals are required for acreage builds?
Acreage builds typically require a Development Application (DA) or Complying Development Certificate (CDC) depending on the council and the site. Rural zones in Wollondilly and Wingecarribee often require DA approval, which involves additional assessment of septic systems, bushfire compliance, and flood considerations. We manage the approvals process on your behalf and give you a clear timeline at the start of your project.
How far from Sydney do you build?
We build across Wollondilly, Camden, Penrith, the Southern Highlands, and the Tablelands. Our furthest active project is currently in the Goulburn area — where our new display home is opening soon. If you’re not sure whether we build in your specific location, send us the block address and we’ll confirm within one business day.
